The Joy of Seeing Someone You Like

Have you ever wondered why you feel happy when you meet someone you like? It feels as though you're receiving a delightful gift, doesn’t it?

This happens because your brain reacts immediately. One of these reactions involves the release of dopamine, often referred to as the "happiness hormone", dopamine provides a sense of satisfaction and joy.

Imagine it like the Inside Out movie, when you see someone you like, your brain reacts in a way similar to how Joy operates. Hormones like oxytocin and serotonin also play significant roles, much like how other emotions in Inside Out contribute. Oxytocin, known as the "love hormone," helps you feel closer and more connected to the person you like, similar to how Joy makes Riley feel connected to important people in her life. Serotonin regulates your mood, much like how Joy balances Riley when she faces difficult situations.

Emotionally, seeing someone you like often reminds you of positive memories and enjoyable experiences. These memories trigger feelings of happiness and satisfaction. Anticipating interactions with them or even just seeing them can boost positive expectations, enhancing your sense of joy. Just as Joy manages happiness, the feeling of seeing someone you like adds color to your life, making it brighter and more meaningful. Their smile can lighten your days, and their presence provides warmth amid the sometimes monotonous routine.

In Islam, liking someone is a blessing that should be approached properly. The process of liking and getting to know someone should be done respectfully and in accordance with Islamic values, aiming for a relationship that is pleasing to Allah SWT, not just one that makes your heart race.
